Job Title:
Specialist Engineering Quality and Refurbishment
Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking someone who can ensure that all engineering practices, products, and services, both internal and external,comply with mine quality management systems and standards. The role involves investigating any instances of non-compliance or substandard performance, as well as evaluating and approving new vendor quality systems
Requirements, Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- Experience in engineering quality operations, continuous improvement, and optimisation
- Strong people management and contractor/service provider management skills
- Proven ability to ensure SHERQ compliance within own area of responsibility
- Minimum of 5 years’ operational experience in a mining or heavy industry maintenance environment (plant and fleet) as a qualified Artisan
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory, team lead, or project lead role within a similar environment
- Basic computer literacy (MS Word and Excel)
- Working knowledge of company policies, procedures, labour agreements, and SHERQ requirements
- Strong functional skills, including:
- Root cause analysis
- Integrated risk management
- Interpersonal and supervisory skills
- Team performance and maintenance management
- Budget control and scope of work development
- Equipment knowledge and experience in maintaining:
- Light duty vehicles (Toyota, Isuzu)
- Trucks (Isuzu, MAN, Mercedes)
- Mobile welders and generators
- Fixed generators
- Forklifts (Manitou)
- Rough terrain and small front-end loaders
- Mobile cranes (Tadano, Grove)
- Front-end loaders (CAT, LHD)
- Skid steer loaders
- Contract management and OEM engagement
- Basic working knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA)
Qualifications:
- Grade 12
- Trade Test with a minimum of N3 in Engineering
- Certificate in Quality Control (NQF Level 5)
Advantageous / Recommended:

- Planned Maintenance Certificate (NQF Level 5)
